Virginia Democrats will go to the polls on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, to select our candidate for President in the November 3, 2020, election.
Here is a SAMPLE BALLOT for the Democratic Primary. Note there are fourteen names on this ballot. Some of these individuals have announced their withdrawal from the race, however, these ballots were printed by Northumberland County in January because absentee voting started in mid-January.
If you use this ballot, DO NOT PRINT IT ON WHITE OR YELLOW PAPER. White and Yellow paper are used for official ballots, and, for official sample ballots. DO NOT USE WHITE OR YELLOW PAPER. We recommend you use BLUE paper.
The notice at the bottom of the ballot states “Read Both Sides of Ballot.” The back side of the ballot is blank except for the Northumberland County seal; there is no election information on the back side.
As of February 21, 2020, the following Democratic candidates have announced their withdrawal from the race. However, their names appear on the ballot because ballots were printed in early January to accommodate absentee voting, which started in mid-January. Furthermore, none of these candidates has informed the Virginia Dept of Elections that they have withdrawn; they have made public announcements that have been reported by the press, but have not yet informed the State.
