In the Congressional primary election on June 18, Leslie Mehta won the Democratic nomination over Herb Jones with 66.59% of the District’s Democratic votes to Jones’ 33.41%.

Turnout in the June 18 primary election was very light across the state; District 1 turnout was light also.
