- Tuesday, November 3. Polls open 6:00 am – 7:00 pm. Last day to drop off or postmark an absentee ballot.
- US Senator (1) (6-year term)
- US Representative (2-year term)
Register
There are two important things to know.
First, you can register to vote online and in person. Get info from the Northumberland County elections office: Website, phone ((804) 580-4655), or by visiting in person (45 Back St., Heathsville).
Second, young people who will turn 18 before the next General Election may register to vote and vote in intervening elections. Learn more from Virginia Department of Elections.

Updating your registration
The deadline to update your registration is October 23.
However, you may register and vote using a provisional ballot in-person after October 23, 2026, including on Election Day.
Early in-person voting
In-person early voting starts September 18 and ends Saturday, October 31. To vote, go to the Northumberland County elections office located at 45 Back St. in Heathsville. According to the Virginia Department of Elections, you will need to show an ID (the website has details). If you don’t have an ID or do not want to show one, the state’s website explains the process. If you are unable to get into the building, curbside service is available. Park in the back of the building and follow the instructions on the back door.

- Through Friday, October 23, 2026.
- Register to vote or update an existing registration online using the Citizen Portal.
