Register
There are two important things to know. First, you can register to vote online and in person. Get info from the Northumberland County elections office: Website, phone ((804) 580-4655), or by visiting in person (45 Back St., Heathsville). Second, young people who will turn 18 before the next General Election may register to vote and vote in intervening elections. Learn more from Virginia Department of Elections.

Early in-person voting
In-person early voting starts June 18 and ends Saturday, August 1. To vote, go to the Northumberland County elections office located at 45 Back St. in Heathsville. According to the Virginia Department of Elections, you will need to show an ID (the website has details). If you don’t have an ID or do not want to show one, the state’s website explains the process. If you are unable to get into the building, curbside service is available. Park in the back of the building and follow the instructions on the back door.
Apply for mail-in ballot
The Virginia Department of Elections’ Absentee and Early Voting page provides all the info you need to get a mail-in ballot.
Vote + same day registration
Primary Election Day polling places are open 6:00 am – 7:00 pm; anyone in line at 7p will be allowed to vote. Polling place locations can be found on the Northumberland County elections office website.
