The Religious Liberty Commission gets straight to the point in their draft report on the first page of chapter 1 (page 28):
It’s important to understand that religious liberty matters because religion matters—because we are creatures, and we owe obligations to the Creator… there’s a duty that we, as creatures, owe to the Creator. And that’s what then creates the rights amongst men, which governments are then instituted to protect,” Commissioner Dr. Ryan Anderson explained in his opening remarks to the Commission.
As Ms. Davis described, every person faces ultimate questions—questions about good and evil, light and darkness, life and death. Every person must discern the meaning of life and of suffering. Faith offers answers to these questions. For many, faith is the answer. (emphasis added)
The president ran with the recommendations made in this playbook: “We’re bringing back religion in our country, and we’re bringing it back quickly and strongly—because for America to be a great nation, we must always be one nation under God.” (emphasis added)
The way to take this on is to vote in the August 4 primary for First Congressional District candidates. Vote early through Saturday, August 1. And then votein the general election Tuesday, November 3.
And be sure to tell others that the Trump plan is to all worship the same god in the same way as the American way. Say hells no to the plan.
The importance of voting early cannot be overemphasized:
You are modeling good behavior
You are showing that you care about this great American right and responsibility
You are keeping the race front and center with friends, family, neighbors, the community, and the congressional district
Once you’ve voted, take a selfie of you in front of the office of the General Registrar and Electoral Board and email it to Susie Cambria. She’ll return you in one of the woo hoo designs that you can put on social. Think about changing your profile picture on Facebook or your avatar on Bsky, add to your email signature, or simply post on social that you voted early and add the pic.
The winning four postcard designs featuring original artwork will be sold through the organization’s Proshop. Postcards For Virginia cannot pay for designs. Rather, sales will “go directly toward protecting democracy.”
