Monday, August 4: #50daysofshame protest of Rob Wittman

Join the protest of Rep. Rob Wittman Monday, August 4 from 4-6p at Wittman’s Glen Allen office (4201 Dominion Blvd, Glen Allen and call out Wittman for voting against the best interests of his constituents.

According to the FB event,

“50 Days of Shame” is a campaign designed to spotlight the faces and names of House Republicans, ensuring they can no longer hide from public scrutiny. Our objective is to inform and galvanize the public, holding these representatives accountable for their actions. It is being organized by Indivisible of St. John’s County in Florida. Each state has been assigned a day to take action in person – Virginia’s assigned day is August 4th. Come out to protest the actions (or inactions) of our Representative Robert Wittman.

The organizers are recommending that posters have Wittman’s face and name on them OR signs that say, “Honk if. . . . ” to engage people driving by. Check out sample posters/signs.

Take action on pressing issues before Congress

Every day, sometimes even several times a day, the media reports new policies before or drama in Congress. It’s hard to keep up. And it’s hard to decide what to do when the easier thing is to settle into information and decision overload.

5 Calls is one way to bypass this overload. Once you’ve decided to call your congressman or senator, you’re halfway there. 5 Calls identifies the most pressing issues/votes/hearings of the day, researches and summarizes each issue, determines your elected officials and presents their contact information, and provides a script.

5 Calls makes advocacy manageable. Try using it to take action on the many issues raised at the June 18 Dems meeting. Then, share your successes, challenges, and questions in the NCDC Facebook group.
