Candidate Mario Haggerty keynoting Lancaster Dems annual Labor Day picnic

The Lancaster County Democrats are again celebrating Labor Day with their annual picnic. Join members, community members, and members of other Dems orgs for good food and good conversation with like-minded folk Monday, September 1, 5:00 – 7:30 pm. The picnic takes place at the Masonic Lodge (1434 Good Luck Rd, Kilmarnock).

This year, the event features Mario Haggerty, candidate for the House of Delegates District 67, as keynote.

Event deets:

  • $30 per person
  • You don’t need to be a member to attend
  • Menu: TriStar Chicken, hot dogs, coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans, iced tea, lemonade, & more
  • BYOB, if desired

7th Annual Northern Neck Blue Crab Feast supports candidates; buy tickets today!

The Westmoreland Dems are at it again with their Annual Northern Neck BLUE Crab Feast Saturday, September 27, Noon – 3:00 pm in Colonial Beach (CB Community Center, 717 Marshall Ave).

Proceeds support Democratic nominees running for national, state & local offices. Most immediately, that means Abigail Spanberger (Governor), Ghazala Hashmi (Lt. Governor), Jay Jones (Attorney General), and Mario Haggerty (House of Delegates District 67).

The deadline to purchase early bird tickets, $50/person, is August 15. Starting the 16th, regular tickets are $60/person. Children 6-12 are $25 and under 6 are $1. Adult tickets come with two wine/beer tickets. Additional wine/beer tickets are $5 each.

On the menu:

  • Locally caught and steamed Chesapeake Bay blue crabs
  • Kosher hot dogs
  • Coleslaw
  • Chips,
  • Craft beer
  • Wine
  • Soda
  • Water

It’s school supplies time!

Even though school has already started, there’s plenty of need for some basic supplies for Northumberland County Public Schools classrooms. NCDC is collecting donations at the August monthly meeting (Thursday, August 21, 6:30 pm at the library)!

Supplies still needed:

  • #2 pencils
  • Pencil erasers
  • Tissue (aka Kleenex)
  • Disinfecting wipes (aka Clorox wipes)

Meet Democratic Lt. Gov. Candidate Sen. Ghazala Hashmi Saturday, August 2, at 1:00 pm at Mt. Olive Baptist Church (6749 Jessie DuPont Memorial Hwy, Heathsville).

Sen. Hashmi will share her vision for Virginia and answer questions from attendees. Come to learn more about what she wants to deliver to the commonwealth as Lieutenant Governor.

July 17: Good Trouble Lives On

Celebrate the legacy of Congressman John Lewis Thursday, July 17 from 6:00 – 7:30p at the Good Trouble Lives On action at the Historic Middlesex County Courthouse (865 General Puller Hwy, Saluda).

July 17 is the day Georgia Congressman John Lewis died and people across the country, and right here on the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck, are engaging in nonviolent action to demonstrate that we oppose the the attacks on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration. We are standing tall and speaking loudly that in the United States of America, power lies with the people.
